St. Therese Homes of New Hope Utilizes QuietCare® in State-of-the-Art New Hope Independent Living Residences
NEW HOPE, MN and NEW YORK, NY – August 17, 2006 – St. Therese Homes of New Hope, a leading Non-Profit Senior Living Community, and Living Independently Group, Inc.,
a leading behavioral monitoring company dedicated to helping seniors and other at-risk individuals live with greater safety and independence, today announced that St. Therese Homes has successfully implemented QuietCare® in all of their assisted living apartments in its New Hope community. The QuietCare system has enabled residents at St. Therese Homes to benefit from early intervention by staff for emerging health conditions without loss of privacy or requiring them to take any action. In addition, the QuietCare system has allowed assisted living residents of all frailty levels to ”age in place” safely at St. Therese, with dignity and privacy.
QuietCare is an early detection and warning system that provides caregivers with 24/7 information and alerts about the safety and well-being of elderly or other at-risk individuals, while maintaining their privacy and independence. This proven system uses discreet wireless activity sensors that are positioned throughout a person’s residence to learn their normal pattern of daily living such as meal preparation, use of medications, morning wake-up time and overall activity. The system remotely identifies potential medical emergencies, such as possible bathroom falls, and automatically alerts caregivers to these situations, thereby permitting them to provide early intervention. QuietCare also provides alerts when the temperature in the person’s residence is dangerously high or low. QuietCare is currently used by individuals in their homes, assisted and independent living communities and homecare agencies.
“QuietCare is a unique and advanced technology that greatly assists all parties involved in eldercare,” said Barbara Rode, CEO of St. Therese Homes. “Our mission at St. Therese Homes is to provide compassionate and dignified care to all our residents and with QuietCare we have identified a technology that helps us further maintain the independence of our residents. QuietCare is that special extra “night light” that remains on 24/7 and brings residents, their families and the professional staff at St. Therese Homes additional security and peace of mind. St. Therese Homes have always delivered state-of-the-art eldercare, which is why our facilities remain one of the very top Catholic independent living residences in the nation.”
“St. Therese Homes is one of the finest independent living facilities in the U.S. and we are pleased that the administrators of St. Therese Homes have endorsed QuietCare and recommended its installation,” stated John Lakian, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Living Independently Group.
